What is Limestone?

Limestone is a sedimentary rock composed largely of the calcite and aragonite with a small amount of other materials, such as quartz, feldspar, clay minerals, pyrite, siderite, and other minerals. Limestone forms of calcium carbonate usually from skeletal fragments of marine life (Corals or Foraminifera). It usually forms in warm, clear, shallow marine waters. It is a sedimentary rock that is formed from the accumulation of shells, mud, and organic marine debris or chemically formed as build-up of precipitation of calcium carbonate from bodies of water and the way it is formed creates different varieties of known Limestone.

What colors does Limestone come in?

Limestone comes in a variety of colors, shades and distinct fossilized patterns, limestone helps provide a more natural feel and look to your floor, while also adding a rugged sense of sophistication. Limestone is used for flooring, wall décor, kitchen and bathroom counters and many architectural and construction uses.

Sefa stone carries light (white) limestone: Light Limestone Tile, Light Lymra Tile and Pool Coping, Shellstone French Pattern Pavers (Matches Jerusalem stone in color and pattern, but with tumbled finish), and Sunny Gold French Pattern and 6”x12” pavers. Sunny Gold is a light based stone with gold swirl patterns and diffused light gold color tone.

What shapes, sizes and finishes does Sefa Stone’s Limestone come in?

Sefa Stone’s Light Limestone and Light Lymra tiles come in 24”x24” with ½” thickness. Light Limestone Tiles also comes in 12”x24” Vein Cut tiles. All Limestone Tiles are Honed & Filled.

Vein Cut Tiles are cut from the stone block along the veining, instead of parallel to the veining (known as Cross Cut). Vein Cuts provide the aesthetically pleasing grain texture that is currently very popular.

Cross Cut is identified in tiles with circle patterns and/or thin veins and diffused colors. The majority of our tiles are Cross Cut.

Sefa Stone’s Limestone Pavers have tumbled finish for a great weathered look and safer for outdoor use. We also offer Light Limestone Pool Copings (also known as Bullnose Pavers) in 12”x12” and 12”x24” with a tumbled finish.
